Best Face 2013

Every now and then I get my act together enough to participate in a photo challenge with iheartfaces.com.  The first challenge of 2014 is Best Face of 2014.  I only had a couple photos I debated about and ultimately landed on this one ... it's a photo I took for the church band promo shoot.  I had a lot of fun doing this photo shoot and hope to do more band type shoots in the future.

I heart faces - best face 2012

It didn't take me long to figure out what photo I wanted to submit for this month's challenge on iheartfaces.com.  Best Face 2012.

Mine was a pure accident that came to be when trying to fall in love with my wide angle lens (AKA - my kit lens) a few months back.  The result was an awesome shot of my darling 2 y/o.

I didn't exactly fall in love with my kit lens, but I have a new appreciation for it and use it more now.

I heart faces - black and white monthly challenge

For their first monthly contest, iheartfaces.com's challenge is black and white.

This is the first B&W photo I've done with Lightroom.  It was fun and a challenge to get the contrast I wanted and could see in my head.

I love this photo. The way her hand is on her cheek. The light from the tablet shining on her face.  The way she looks more like a big kid than a not-yet 3 y/o.

i heart faces ... black

This weeks' theme at i heart faces is black.

I love this shot of my younger daughter, 7 months, playing with her grandfather's shoe. Really shows the innocence and simplicity of the developing mind.

I heart Faces - Water

Nikon D3100; shutter speed: 1/4000s; focal length: 70.0mm; f-stop: f/4.5; ISO: 1600

iheartfaces this week is featuring WATER! Water is such a fun and challenging subject matter. I like the fast shutter speed photos, capturing each individual water droplet coming out of the source (the sprinkler, in this case).

This is Audrey, cooling off in the sprinkler a few weeks ago.

i heart faces - Let's Hear It For the Boys

In honor of Father's Day, this week's iheartfaces entry is about men/boys.

Playing with my new camera, Josh had an inspiration and wanted me to take the following photo of him and Annie.

I love this photo because it shows how much Josh loves being a dad and it captures Annie's love for him.  The reaching out is priceless. This is the quintessential Josh/Annie relationship and personality.

i heart face - vroom vroom

This weeks' challenge over at iheartfaces.com is all about cars.  I had a million ideas go through my head, both of old photos and taking new photos.  But I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to post this awesome photo of my daughter (11 months at the time it was taken) hanging out in her new to her police car.

This is her favorite toy and we have to drag her away from it when it's time to go inside.

iheartfaces - purple

PURPLE!!! This weeks' theme at iheartfaces.com is purple. Purple is my most-favoritest color.

This little daisy (I think it's a daisy) is one I picked on the side of the road while visiting my MIL last spring. I had so much fun taking a bunch of photos of the flower and my step-daughter [isn't she gorgeous?].

I heart faces - PLAY

This is my 1 year old daughter playing in the water. I filled up her lego blog activity table with water and put on a swimming suit. She was more interested in drinking the water than playing with it.

i heart faces - dancing

This is my husband and his daughter at our wedding in a reverse Generations dance. They danced to Zoey-Jane by Staind. She was crying for the entire wedding because she was so happy for her father and his happiness. I am very blessed that she is my step-daughter.

i heart faces - kisses

My husband and daughter at 3 weeks. She was wearing an onesie that said, "Queen of my Daddy's Heart." How can you not want to kiss that???? She was super happy, and then just start bawling when he went to kiss her.

Once he stopped kissing her, she was fine.

This is definitely a favorite photo of mine. She was tiny and fragile and completely helpless.

i heart faces - My Favorite Places

This week's entry for i heart faces is "My Favorite Places."

I've lived in only 2 areas my entire life, Colorado and California.  Because I grew up in a landlocked state, I have a massive love of anything water/beach related.  I am just taken in completely by the ocean and beaches and boats and sea life.  I also love mountains.  I was spoiled growing up getting to watch the sun set behind the Colorado Rockies nearly every night.  The only thing as pretty as a mountain sunset is an ocean sunset.

These three photos are the sunset photos from my wedding in Ft. Bragg, CA.  We got married at a rental house that overlooked the ocean.  It was phenomenal.

cousins.....

This is of my favorite winery, Pacific Star; also in Ft. Bragg, CA.  That's my step-son on the bench in the background.  The grounds are beautiful, the ocean is pretty, there are sheep that wander, the picnic benches are awesome, and there are great places to take artsy-fun photos.

Another one of my favorite places is at home. Just BEING.  Hanging out with family.  Playing music.  Playing games.  Watching TV.

Playing cards

And I LOVE church.  Anything in the church is fantastic for me.  My husband plays the drums for church, so we are there all the time.

As I said in the beginning ... anything mountainous has be captivated. (no faces in these .... sorry)

Nothing says Colorado Mountains like Pike's Peak

Anywhere I am with my family, THAT'S my favorite place...
