Constructive Critisicm Friday

I took this photo of my step-daughter. I found the flower and thought it was cool. Took a bunch of photos of the flower, then was inspired to do a series of her with the flower. I was really inspired and had great ideas, but think that the photo could use some work. There were about 20 of them that I took, and this was one of the best SOOC photos. I think the lighting is a little off, and maybe even some comments on how to better position the model.

I have no details of the photo, I took it about a year ago. I just have a small PandS camera and don't even know how to find those details. I can say I was probably using my macro setting, but that's about it.

Thanks,
Christine

Hi Christine,

I think the photo is natural and beautiful. I bet the only reason you had it in macro mode was b/c you had it set for taking photos of the flower.

Anyhow, I'm not an expert on posing, so I don't have advice there, but what you could do is crop the photo so that her whole face and her hair fill the frame. Crop the background out completely from the top and the right. Then all the attention would be on her face and the flower. I'll send you the edit I did and you can see what I mean. I think she has a beautiful profile. Hope that helps!
